Founder Stories and Lessons - 2

No idea shapes up suddenly.
No organization has an abrupt start.
But, there is one moment of decision for sure.

The planet we live in took 4.5 billion years to evolve.
The species we all belong to took 6 million years to evolve.
The brain we are using took around 3 lakh years to evolve.
Nature has its own course to evolve and so do we … if we want to survive, sustain and continue existing.

Nature's philosophy is applicable for starting an organization as well. The conception of any entrepreneur's journey starts with a single thought. (As they say – The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step). That thought keeps undulating for sometime. The idea gradually evolves and shapes up. Each of them takes their own time to make it happen, but surely, not overnight.

As they say, stronger the roots, the tougher you become. At least, that's what I believe in.

My idea moment was conceived almost four years before I actually started.

It was one of the evenings with my team near my then office at Koramangala. The team was pretty enthusiastic and there started a discussion about the plans for future. We all wanted to do something end to end of Human resources, and I still remember, we were excited with term HUMCES as it was coined then.

I was specially very fervent about starting off something in Human Resources as it's always been my passion, interest and a topic of constant exploration. Plus my mind was ruminating on several other issues that I had witnessed, which I felt were areas that needed attention. While driving back home that day, the road did not seem very long as the mind was completely consumed in it. The ideas ran as deep as you could think of.

As I mentioned, an idea can get conceived in a moment, but shaping it takes longer than anticipated. But more importantly, there is one more bold moment of decision. And I feel, more than that idea moment, it's the moment of bold decision that matters the most in an entrepreneur's journey.
